Kanye West deletes tweet claiming Kim Kardashian called doctor to ‘lock him up’ amid fan concerns over rapper’s mental health



Kanye West tweeted then deleted a series of troubling posts, including one that claimed his wife, Kim Kardashian, had called a doctor to come and “lock [him] up”.

The controversial rapper and producer, who is running for US president, had recently taken part in a rally in South Carolina, at which he made a number of outlandish comments.

“Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday [sic],” West, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, tweeted late on Monday 20 July.

West was referencing his remark that suggested he and his wife had considered terminating her first pregnancy, which resulted in their daughter, North.

During an anti-abortion segment of his speech at the weekend, West spoke of “nearly killing” his daughter and broke down in tears.

In the same Twitter rant, West appeared to criticise his wife for her past career choices, including appearances in Playboy magazine, as well as expressing his support for Bill Cosby.

He recently shared the tracklist for his new album, DONDAwhich he said would arrive this week.

“I have dedicated my career to offering education and insight about bipolar disorder and I’m so disturbed by what I’m seeing,” she tweeted.

“Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isn’t a joke. You can hate someone’s actions or opinions without contributing to stigma that damages an entire community of sometimes vulnerable people all for a couple of laughs.”

She continued: “If you wanna think someone is an a******, go ahead. Lots of people with mental illnesses are great. Lots of them are a******s. Because they are people. With nuanced personalities.

“But making jokes specifically targeted towards bipolar hurts more than the 1 person ur angry with. Sincerely, Human Being with a Decade Long Bipolar Diagnosis.”

A number of fans also called for compassion amid concerns for West’s wellbeing.
